The Sherman Park Gathering Place (SPGP) was founded in 2002. The Center serves adults (50 and better) who wish to form bonds of friendship through religious (all faiths respected), social, educational and health-enhancing activities.
It also serves residents of all ages living in the Sherman Park neighborhood by offering a meeting place for programs/discussions that connect neighbors to one another. Over the years we have offered all kinds of different speakers and some innovative programs directed at older adults.
At present, we continue to offer Bible study on both Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday we also offer an exercise program that is directed by a member of the YMCA staff. There is also a noon-time lunch offered each Wednesday.
Open Tuesdays 9:30 – 11:30 am and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s schedule: Bible study is at 9:30 with a speaker or discussion to follow. Most days, the session ends around 11:30.
Wednesday’s schedule: arrival around 9:30; exercise starts at 10:00, with Bible study at 11:00 and Worship at 11:00 am on fourth Wednesdays, and lunch at noon. Most days, the session ends around 1:30.
