Worship @ Capitol Dr. Lutheran
Our service is based on the classic patterns of worship observed by Christians throughout the centuries. We sing the great hymns of faith, but we also sing gospel songs and newer songs of praise, reflecting the diversity of God’s people. We celebrate the beauty of God’s love by mirroring that beauty in our space.
All of our worship services include the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. We welcome everyone to share Communion with us — no exceptions! As Jesus said in the parable of the Great Banquet, “I want my house to be full.”
You are encouraged to wear what is comfortable for you. Some of us will be wearing shorts, some will be in suits. We encourage children to worship together with their families — as was the custom in the time of Jesus. We have a children’s play area in the back of the sanctuary for those kids who may need to take a break.
Our worship service is usually about one hour long. We encourage you to join us for coffee, treats and fellowship after worship. If you have any questions, or need prayer or counsel, our pastor will be happy to meet with you after worship.
In addition to Sunday morning worship, we offer faith formation classes for adults most weeks after worship at 10:45 am.
Each week adults gather in the Lounge after worship to engage in faith formation. Most frequently this comes as Bible study, but sometimes we read newspaper and magazine articles for discussion, or lead conversations about interesting faith/ethics issues. Being in Bible study and prayer with one another is an important part of Christian life and discipleship.
